She specialised in Neurology in 2004. She completed her PhD at Sapienza University of Rome in 2008, with a project conducted at the University of Oxford, where she worked until 2011, before moving to Cardiff University as a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Neurology. She is in her current post though direct University call (“chiamata diretta”) since 2019.
She has received a European Charcot Foundation Award for research in multiple sclerosis (MS), fellowships, projects and research infrastructure grants from national and international funding bodies for over 5,000,000 Euro. She has published on major international journals in the field of MS, plasticity, neuroimaging.
Her research interests include: prevention of brain damage and disability in CNS neuroinflammatory diseases; promotion of recovery by modulation of brain plasticity; development of neuroimaging methods for clinical applications.
